DON'T THINK "IT'LL NEVER HAPPEN TO ME..."

So yeah. Don't know if you heard on the news or saw it in the paper today but a student at my son's middle school was arrested for threatening students and bringing knives and brass knuckles to school.

My son's response? "OH, THAT'S ____ ______. He stood by me in the concert the other night."

WHAT?!?!?!

So you want to know my response? Well I wish it would have been to pray for that kid, but my first thought was to remind my son to BE KIND TO EVERYONE. DON'T MAKE ENEMIES. THEY MIGHT KILL YOU! This comes on the heels of a similar incident at my nephew's school in Marble Falls, Texas. But it was a loaded gun and we're talking 3rd grade. 3RD GRADE. We're talking middle class America, in the Bible belt. There's a lot of confused people out there. One scripture comes to mind...

PRAY WITHOUT CEASING, I THESSALONIANS 5:17

LIFE'S SCARY - PRAY HARD.

I can't believe that article was buried in the middle of the section (page 13A in my paper)! It said the student told police he was going to kill his whole class. Oh my. You are right, much prayer is needed, for protection and many other things!

Oh boy! Definitely tons of prayers...I know what you mean about being nice to everyone though.

Um...I didn't hear about this story but oh. my. I am shocked! And the Midland story...that too. Shocked. Yes, prayer. Prayer is definitely needed.

It's really scary and in my opinion, video games (some I've heard about) are a big reason for the increase in these things (and of course parent supervision/involvement). Video games with violence are appealing to children/teens, but their minds get warped into thinking life is just a game and if something bad happens, you just restart the game. It's really scary and sad, too.

That is very scary. I moved to Italy almost 7 years ago and hearing stories like these make me want to continue raising my kids here. Definitely prayers from here too!
