Dad helping out
Suite-mates!
Looking toward the future!
turned out to be a really nice time! Except for the 100 degree heat, of course, but there was lots of iced down water bottles and help available at the dorms as we unloaded. Nice touch, OC! I was a little nervous about moving my son into a college that is 2 miles from our house. I know many of you are thinking, "what's the point?" if you live that close, but my husband and I both feel that living in the dorm is part of the college experience (along with my Dad who taught at the college level for 35 years). Anyway, when we took my daughter to college 6 hours away from home, she truly NEEDED the help and support. But my son, well, probably not so much. I told him I wanted to do a little cleaning and make his bed, then we made a list of items to buy. We got to meet his roommate and the parents from Nashville. Thankfully many of his friends' parents were doing the same thing, so we got no objections as we took him out for lunch, then shopped at Target, Lowe's and Bed,Bath, and Beyond for room stuff. (I probably don't have to tell you that doing this for a boy is much different than dorm room planning/shopping with a girl!) About $100 later, we made one last trip up to the room that I will probably never see again. We prayed a prayer of blessing for him and we were finished. Wasn't quite so hard as when we took our daughter 2 years ago. Maybe because I've done this before. Maybe because he's only 2 miles away. I don't know, but I thank the Lord for today and pray blessings for his future!

I helped on the women's side today. Let me tell you, there was at least 100 times more stuff on that side than the men's side. I moved in about 50 hot pink mini-fridges. I kid you not.
Haha Summer! I didn't see any hot pink mini-fridges, but I'm glad Maddies was black. Robin, someone asked me if I was sad moving my baby into the dorms and it didn't hit me then, after all she's only a mile away! But tonight at home it seems weird that she won't be coming home in a little bit!
I'm praying for you Robin! You're such an example of loving your kids, but not smothering them or drowning in sorrow when they spread their wings and leave home. I'm going to remember your words when I'm there in 12 years!
I love the picture with the clock tower in the background! Awesome!
Alyssa, thankfully that clocktower view is about 10 steps from his dorm room or I never would have gotten it! I have to be pretty sneaky with the camera nowdays!
I was doing the same thing this weekend. Well, I helped bring one load in for Sister #2. She'll be a sophomore.
Living in the dorms and being a couple of miles from home is the best!!! Cause you still have the freedom, but have somewhere else to hang out with all your friends besides the dorm lobby!
