FRESH NEW BATHROOM LOOK...

We decided it was time to do something to one of the places in our house that has been forgotten...the Master Bathroom.  It's easy to not care about it, since no one ever sees it except us.  But we started thinking about it and decided the floral wallpaper had done it's duty.  The brass needed to go and the wooden cabinets needed paint.  We had wallpapered when we moved in 15 years ago, and my BIL redid the tile.  The tile still looks good. So this was really all just cosmetic. That doesn't mean it was easy, though!  We started in February and worked little bits here and there when we had the time.

This is one of my favorite improvements - hidden hinges!  It wasn't easy but he did it for me!

In process - we really liked the grey tones and decided to leave the crown molding as-is because it wasn't water damaged and I like the contrast.

Finally, some fresh rugs!  

We are about 90% done  - still trying to figure out what to do with the brass in the shower and on that door.  But it feels nice to have something up-to-date in there!  Of course the color scheme is catching so I ended up getting a new comforter for the bed this summer, too!

WEDDING ROUND-UP...

When you have three kids in their 20's, you can expect a fair amount of wedding festivities!  We've been to five weddings this summer.  We even tried to plan our summer around them because I really wanted to support these kids that are special to us!  I decided I would post a few pics from each of them on one post.

Their photographer took pictures of everyone that went through the food line - which I thought is kind of a neat thing for them to remember who all was there. I love this photographer who somehow didn't get my double chin in the picture!  :)

They had a little donut tower in addition to Mexican food and parfaits.  

I think this wedding was my favorite and part of it was because I knew many of the guests and hadn't seen some of them for a while.  But they had the most beautiful, sincere vows!  They sent each guest home with a CD of their favorite songs (they are both performers) and I got a succulent from a bridesmaid later.  :)

Another beautiful outdoor wedding at the bride's home!  Cassie and Lee said their vows on the side of the yard and a beautiful chandelier hung in the trees.

There was a lot of bling at this wedding and the reception was a dessert reception around the pool in the backyard.

WHAT'S BEEN GOING ON IN MY DRIVEWAY...

For parents of creative kids, there is no need for explanations.  But for all my other friends and neighbors - our sons businesses have been hogging our driveway!  Both the boys have projects underway this summer and my mother's heart has just let them do it, silently praying we aren't kicked out of the neighborhood!  

Son #1 and his cousin have been dreaming for a while...about coffee and bikes.  They are launching a new coffee service that makes fancy pour-overs and such.  Of course they had to have a gimmick - a spool table to serve on.  They made a table out of a cable spool and cut it in half (no small feat!) to make a counter with rounded ends.  It's pretty cool!  So now my house is storing coffee paraphernalia in addition to snow cone stuff!

Son #2 is still going strong with The Scooby Shack snow cone business, and in addition to his Mystery Machine he is planning on going mobile with the purchase of this red trailer.  He has plans to have it wrapped or painted to match...

THAT'S THE GLORY OF, THAT'S THE STORY OF LOVE...

Recently at our church we honored those who had been married 50+ years!  It was quite moving to hear our minister talk about love and commitment and see those examples in real life!  Afterwards, we honored them with a luncheon.  The Women's Ministry set up everything and another young class helped serve and ate alongside the older couples.

 One of the ladies on our committee brought her collection of Joan Walsh Anglund things to add to the tables with the sunflower centerpieces.  Since this was popular in the 60's and 70's she thought everyone would remember and enjoy them.  She also went out to a field and picked  all the sunflowers herself!

 Some ads from old magazines were on the bulletin board as they came in to look at and remember the "good old days."

 We used lattice work to make a photo booth and we wrote the number of years each couple had been married on the chalkboard they held.

Guess who snuck in there?  (Is that even a word?) 

 A younger Bible class took on the task of playing host so it was a great way to mix generations!

 This couple got the award for being married the longest time - 72 years!!!

A former school teacher entertained the group and sang, "That's the story of love."  So sweet!

ADVENTURES OF OUR NEWLYWEDS...

Lots of changes in her life since she got hitched in January!  She and her Hubs adopted a dog.  His name is Tucker.  AND, they are in the process of moving to the Grand Canyon!  Her husband will work in Airplane Maintenance at the airport there and she'll be looking for a new job.  ANOTHER interesting development is their home.  They were given a bus, which they have been renovating on the weekends to be their tiny house! 

No lie, I wasn't finished visiting her in Denver.  That was a fun place to go...but Grand Canyon is pretty awesome too!  Who knows?  They may be in Hawaii next! Nothing surprises me anymore...
